P0336

So i replaced the opti today and when i went to start the car it turned over really hard like the timing is way advanced. Then it set a P0336 code. There is no way you can put the opti in wrong is there? The dowel pin only fits in one groove right? I have changed several of these and never had this problem. The opti is a new AC Delco one that i had bought a few years back but never used.

The car is a 1997 Trans Am A4

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Ian

I don't know how, but I've heard that people have missed the Opti hub slot with the cam pin.

Also, when changing an Opti it is always best to do a quick (short) test start and run before installing the water pump and coolant and all the other stuff to see if everything is OK.

That is exactly what i did. The pin went in where the bolt next to it was supposed to go. It was weird the mounting plate sat pretty well flush up against the timing cover. I don't see how that was even possible.
Thanks, everything is better now.
