P0300....should I be worried?
P0300....should I be worried?
Hey all,
I just got the MAF issue I have been dealing with solved, and now this. After I installed the MAF, i sometimes had a pinging sound when I was trying to accellerate. (this also happened, and started, when I was running the car without the maf while it was being shipped to me..)It would be a VERY loud noise, as well as the car would bog down. Anyway, the car finally threw a code, and is was a P0300 (random/multiple cylinder misfire).
Is this pinging a bad thing? Is it because I run on 97 octane gas? What are some things I can do to prevent this misfire, and solve the pinging? (I think theyre related somehow)
ANYTHING HELPS!!
Thank you in advance,
-Ryan

When you reinstalled the MAF sensor, did you reset the PCM? Might be a good idea to clear the long term fuel corrections. Could be running lean, but should correct itself in a matter of a few miles of driving.
If you can hear LOUD detonation, you have a very serious problem. The knock sensor should detect the onset of knock/detonation and pull timing to eliminate the knock, before it becomes audible. The PCM can pull upto 15* of timing (stock tune). If that doesn't cure the knock, there's a good chance you will do damage to the pistons or the heads if knock continues. Cross-fire on the wires could explain seriously incorrect ignition timing.
