P0117....How can I fix it.

Hey,
This is the code that tripped my SES light today. P0117-Engine Coolant Temp. circuit low input. Basically, how can I fix this without sending the pcm off again to have it deleted out or disconnecting the neg. battery cable everytime it comes on? I had the code cleared at Autozone, but I know it will eventually come back. Is there any adverse affects of engine performance when this code is tripped?

Thanks,

Tim

You have to change the sensor if it is bad, my car barely started when reading low or high voltage coolant temp sensor, same code. Cheap sensor right in water pump.

Critical sensor.... not something you would "program out". If you want to check it, go to my online scanner writeup:

There's a table in there of sensor resistance vs. temperature, that will allow you to check it with an ohm meter.
