P00008 Code, high intake

I have been trying to trouble shoot this code for a while. Too much air intake (Barometric pressure.) I have this code sent twice. No other MAP sensor errors, so I assume that is not the problem. I have a 97 LT1 with SLP cold air intake, air foil in throttle body, and SLP loudmouth cat back exhaust. I bought a Granatelli Airflow sensor with cold air tuning in an attempt to correct the high input air error but still recieve the code. I can't pass emmissions in Nevada with the service engine light on. I think the o2 sensors are fine, changed last year. Any ideas?

I suggest swapping the MAP with an F-Body bud and see if that cures the problem.

Re: P00008 Code, high intake

To my knowledge, there is no "P00008" code for the OBD-II LT1's. All the codes are "P" followed by only 4 digits, and the first one in the manuals is "P0101". You might want to have that code checked again.

There is a "P0108" which is "MAP sensor high voltage". That would indicate either a faulty MAP sensor, or a broken connector on the sensor (very common, they dry out and crumble, causing intermittent contact). It does not indicate you have too much air flow, and changing to a Granatelli MAF would do nothing to help the problem. You can see that problem with a cam that is a bit more radical than stock, but that doesn't appear to be the case, since you don't indicate that you have swapped the cam. The code sets when MAP voltage exceeds 4.24 volts and engine speed is less than 1,000rpm, or when TPP is less than 3% and the rpm is above 1,000.

In any case, you need the correct code to do a diagnosis.
