Oversize Crank Sprocket for LT4 Heavy Duty Timing Set worh it?

Does it add performance? It's only like $40 so is it worth it?

Thanks

The oversized sprocket is for use when you have rebuilt your engine and had your mains align bored/honed bc you have added splayed caps and or studs to your mains. When this happens the distance between the crank and cam is shortened and you end up with slack in the chain. To remedy this GM made the bigger sprocket to take up the slack, so unless you've had the above mentioned work done to your block or you just have slack in your chain you won't need the oversized sprocket.

sprocket

The Cloyes "oversize" sproket is not really oversize. Cloyes makes Chevy timing sets to GM spect.GM spect calls for a smaller than normal crank sproket.I think to compensate for water pump load? The Cloyes set has a standard gear which is "oversize" to GM spect,But normal size for a small block. If you are not running an electric WP I would suggest you stay with the GM spect timing set. There is no performance advantage on a mild or stock motor.
