overheating to well over 300 degrees
anyhow one morning i crunk up my car and white smoke just poured out for about 5 mins then it stopped and no problem after that until later in the day my radiator hose popped from overheating changed it out and refilled with coolant and now it over heats passed 260 in less than 2 mins. its a 93 z28 with a brand new water pump and the radiator is cycling water.
Re: overheating to well over 300 degrees
no i did not bleed the system i didnt know u had to.... anyhow how do you bleed it and i just bought the water pump a month ago and drove the car like 6 times
Re: overheating to well over 300 degrees
I am having the same sort of problem. I keep trying to bleed the stupid thing, but it seems like an endless amount of air is coming out. When I open the bleeder on the large hose/thermostat housing nothing but coolant comes out, and when I open the bleeder on the smaller hose it will spurt coolant then some air then some coolant and so on. I just can't figure it out. Someone please help.

When Bleeding the coolant system- make sure you have water in the radiator, put your overflow and radiator cap on and down sealed tight. Start the car and let it heat up a bit and make sure the thermostat opens, then find the bleeder screw on top of the T-stat housing and crack it open. Air WILL spray out, and if it is hot, it will more than likely be steam. You want it to bleed until a steady stream of water SHOOTS out, belive me- it will shoot out.

I thought the computer would shut it down if it ever ran too crazy hot
