Overheating Problem
Overheating Problem
Since the weather has gotten nice out I cant drive around town without my car overheating. In order to stop it I have found I only have two options, 1) I can flip the A/C on and off and it will leave the fans on until it comes down to temp. 2) I can get on a long road and drive at a steady quick pace and the temp will slowly come down. Any thoughts?
My '93 is having the exact same problem, it seems like the fans aren't kicking in without manually turning on/off the A/C or cruising at low RPMs. When I get stuck in traffic it's jumped as high as 220-225 before I pulled over and let it cool down. Some ideas would be great, and the more detailed the better!
Thanks

You might look into getting one of the Fan's to runs constantly and then the other will come on as needed. Got a friend with a 383 but before that he had the same issue so when he got his motor redone they made it to where he turns the key to accessory one fan comes on and the other comes on when the A/C or heater is on the sencond fan kicks on.....maybe that helps
joe,
check the fuses and relays. i don't know if you remember, but that is what happend to me last summer. be careful, i blew a head gasket cause my car got to hot, but i guess that ended up ok because it gave me an excuse to get a cam! if ya need anything else, let me know
