Overheating, no power, need help
So i was driving two days ago, everything was normal. Then suddenly the car stopped having any power what so ever. I would accelerate, hear couple of booms and the car wouldn move. Managed to get back home, and as soon as i turned off the car overheated water started splashing from the engine coolant tube with steam. I left the car for one day, filled the radiator with water and started the engine. Temperature was good for couple of minutes then when i started driving the car the temperature flew high right away. Cant figure out the problem. Any suggestions what that might be? People been telling me its the head gasket but the engine was recently replaced, the oil and the coolant wasn't changed for about two years cuz it wasn't used, but i dont think that's the problem. The car is 1996 camaro z28 lt1

Your pressure cap may be bad(or not sealing against the radiator neck), but that may not explain the power loss.
If the cap is good, then chances are good that that there may be a head gasket issue. For the overflow to fill up like that is not a good thing.
Did the overflow fill back up after topping the radiator back off on your test drive? Oh, always use a 50/50 water/coolant mix for filling it back up. Never pure water.
A cooling system pressure tester could really help out for this situation.

My guess is head gasket. Your oil should also have been changed reguardless of not being driven. I would drop the oil looking for any sign of water in it( will turn brownish and milkshake like). I would treat it like a headgasket and only run it for diagnostic purposes or you may need alot more than headgasket. Check for oil in the water also.

You may also be starting to hydrolic(turning motor into water pump). That would explain your noise and loss of power. When my headgasket went mine did can look for coolant in exhaust.
