Overheating, no flow? no fans either

put a baby lt1 motor in and just got it running. bled the coolant system and it is still over heating. gets in the red very fast. the return hose to the radiator didnt feel hot so i dont think i have flow. would a thermostat do this or not. im not sure my water pump is working. but before i take it off and make sure i put the "shaft" in i want to cover anything else it could be.

also my fans are not comming on. checked the fuse and it is good. what are some steps to trouble shoot it?

i just got this motor in and running so it could be something hooked up wrong or not at all. it has never ran with this motor in. but the water pump and fans did work on the old motor.

Take of the radiator cap and look for coolant flow in the radiator. If there is no flow you may have forgot the drive shaft. If its overheating fast you probably have no coolant flow.

You may just have an air pocket in it. Filling it back up takes special care.

thanks shbox when i filled and bled it i did it straight from your site. it was like 4 months ago when i installed the water pump, but i thought the new motor i got had a shaft with it. i checked my old motor and my shaft from the old motor was there so if the new motor didnt have it that is the problem. i will be checking tommorrow and installing it if i didnt the first time.
