overheatin

Ok guys I need some help I have a 97 camaro z28 LT1. The problem is that when its on idle it tends to overheat but once I start running the temp goes down and again once I stop in traffic temp goes up. Also I've noticed that's the fans don't go on only when I turn on the ac. Someone help plz

Re: overheatin

When I cruise around town or sit at idle for long my temps raise up high as well. Except they don't hardly ever go above the 'normal' range. Only one fan operates on mine without the a/c being on, I turn on the a/c and the second fan kicks on as well. So when I'm in-town driving where it's not going to get much air flow I go ahead and kick on the a/c just to get that second fan going. I know you can set up your fans to kick on at certain temps and even speed settings I believe, but that's a tuner discussion I'm sure.

Do your temps just get high or does it actually overheat to a severe point?

Re: overheatin

What are the actual numerical temperatures you are interpreting as "overheating"? The low speed fans don't come on until 226*F and high speed at 235*F.
