Is it possible you forgot to put the under bumper air dam back on after all the work was done? Heating up at highway speeds is a common problem when the air dam is missing.

without the air dam nothing is going to push the air up and under the car at highway speeds. This makes perfect sense. I would bet your problem is gone.
