ORP? Bullet? What???
ORP? Bullet? What???
ALright, heres the deal. Im getting 94-95 MAC's, and dont want a Cat in there, but I dont really just want a ORP in there either. What are my choices? I know you can get the bullet muffler, but what else is there? Any glasspacks i can put there? Any Chambered pipes? I think a chambered pipe would sound really cool, but i dont know, just thinking out loud i guess. Thanks for any help.
I just ordered one of these to stick in my Borla I pipe because it is WAY too raspy without cats. I've heard nothing but good things about them, and they only reduce noise levels 5-7db which should put it at the perfect level while eliminating most rasp.
Moroso Spiral Flow
I ordered mine for 55 bucks, but I think you can find them cheaper than that in summit.

I had a custom 3" Y-pipe built, with flanges for dual CarSound 3" cats, and a matching pair of Borla 3" XR-1 shorty mufflers to replace the cats at the track. The Borla XR-1 is about the best flowing muffler you can buy. It doesn't quiet things down a whole lot... about the same as the high flow cat as far as sound goes. And I was using a Mufflex 4" catback in addition, so it sounded pretty "moderate".
Thanks for all the replies guys, keep em coming. However, just wanted to give a little bit more info. Im not looking at having the best flowing exhaust in the world, i dont think that would help me out much, considering I have only a basically stock engine. What I want is for my exhaust to sound good. I want to get rid of the raspiness associated with headers and a borla. I would really like to put a chambered exhaust pipe there, but thats just me thinking that itll sound old school cuz its a chambered muffler. I just want it to sound good, so any ideas on how to make that happen would be much appreciated.
i put an 18" bullet behind the offroad Ypipe on my LS1 and it sounded pretty mean. i mated that to the magnaflow and it toned down some of the harsh rasp that came with deleting the cats.
maybe look for a longer bullet or race flow like the XR 1

I installed the Moroso Spiral Flow in my Borla today..... Awesome Awesome Awesome. Rasp is completely gone, no more popping or cackling sound. I love it, just deep tone, sounds a lot like duals.
Anybody else got any ideas for me? I guess im stuck on this chambered muffler idea, but it seems like no one has done this, and I dont know if i wanna be a trailblazer! LOL. Maybe i should be.
Whats wrong with simply using a 3" Borla XR-1 shorty muffler, in place of the cat. That's what I was trying to suggest in the earlier post, but it apparently got confusing because I mentioned it in the context of my own Y-pipe setup. Point is, a 3" Borla will easilly handle 400HP..... it will quiet down your exhaust, minimize the rasp and popping and will not hurt flow, like a muffler with baffles will do.
A friend of mine uses a pair of 3.5" Borla's for 1,325HP, and the Borlas flowed better and made better HP than some custom made 5" mufflers and others costing up to $500 each.

Heres what mine sounds like.
Jet hot longtubes, O/R hooker y-pipe, 18" dynomax bullet in the i-pipe with a hooker catback.

I get compliments on how my car sounds all the time, trust me the vid doesn't do it justice. I raced an srt-4 last week, and the first thing he said after the race was, "your car sounds nice as hell."

Thanks for the replies guys, I really appreciate them. And Injuneer, I got what you were saying, but was just seeing if there were other ways to go. Im not worried at all about exhaust flow, almost worried about too much flow considering my car is gonna be basically stock. I dont want my exhaust to be the loudest thing ever, just want it to sound real good. Dont want it to be quiet as hell either. Thanks guys.
