Yes, but chain stretch affect ALL distributors, unless you're using a crank trigger. A typical V-8 engine runs the distributor off the camshaft... Rather it's in the front, back, or wherever. Yes, the exceptions are newer distributorless ignitions, but cam driven distributors have been around for a long time.
