Y'all got me confused.

I have an early 97. Build #35, no "cone of silence, 2OTL. It aint putting out the numbers you guys are talking about.

So what does this optional exhaust look like? How would you identify a car that has it?

Btw, I did make the deal for the 1997 Camaro SS I was talking about. I pick it up tomorrow and I'm so pumped!
Excellent news. Glad you got one. You won't regret it.

I don't know if they did it on the more "budget" Camaro's, but the Firehawks, at least in '94 had the 315hp option. The base firehawk which was I think 305 hp (maybe 310hp) came with the SLP 2 on the left exhaust, the total of 315 hp came from an optional SLP installed 2.5" y-pipe. Did the Chevy's ever have the option for the aftermarket Y-pipe? If not, that may be why they weren't rated at 315hp.

If you have the oem 2otL exhaust, then you have the (only) optional exhaust that was offered at the time your car was built.

There is a chance that you don't have the cone with tahe early build number, but the only way to be really certain is to open the exhaust and look for it. I had the cone in mine, but mine was a later 97 build (#1992).
