Opti wobble

How much "wobble" should the optispark rotating part have?

I just put a new cap and rotor and the vented opti I am installing on my new engine, and it seems to have alittle wobble and the end of the opti drive that sticks in the cam. That shouldn't be a problem, since the orings will keep it tight, right?

I would not count on the orings to keep everything in order. But I do not thing that it should have that much play in it. But maybe sombody else will pitch in on this.

Let's make sure we all understand what you are saying.

You have a 93.

You are converting to a VENTED Opti.

You bought a new cap/rotor AND NEW (or used????) vented Opti.

The pilot shaft on the back of the Opti that inserts into the pilot hole in the nose of the camshaft is "loose" or wobbley.

If all that is correct, it appears the bearing is worn, as noted above.

yeah, I got all the vented stuff + a used working wented opti real cheap.

Took apart the opti and the cap and rotor had corrosion on the metal, so I swapped those with a cap and rotor I had from those cheap unreliable opti's from ebay I mistakingly bought.

The opti still rotates freely, and spins easier then the new non-vented opti I had.....
It doesn't wobble that much, the only reason I could tell is that it has the part that goes into the cam that sticks out so far, and at its tip I can feel alittle wobble.

so......

Should I leave it the way I have it, or replace it? It still spins freely and not "notchy"
