Opti trouble

This is the easyest **** in the world, to install a opti. Anyways I have a 95 vented opti and I line it up with the dowel pin. As I was installing it, it was not going in smoothly, and I tried to put alittle pressure on the opti to get it to go flush on the timing cover I heard the cap crack. There is a slight crack on the perimeter of the cap. I was wondering if you all think it would hold up. Or should I just buy a new cap(expensive considering I already spent 9gs on this motor). I am trying to save some money.

Thanks Mark Tisdale

Re: Opti trouble

I'd definetely get it replaced. I'm sure you can buy a used cap or a used/bad opti (to get the cap out of it) for real cheap. Try the Parts WTB section.

Re: Opti trouble

yea, I thought so. Thanks, I just wish I could save some money after all the money I have been spending. What do you all think about the new msd cap for the 95 opti?

thanks Mark

Re: Opti trouble

I wouldn't invest money in anything to "upgrade" the stock opti. If it goes, Delteq is the way to go.
