Opti spark takes a swim

It rained like crazy here today and many roads flooded. Had to take my son to work and made the mistake of driving the Z. Had to drive through like 8 inches of water a few times and could only go like 5MPH. My 275/40/17 tires didn't help maters any as they threw water everywhere. I had a V6 Camaro pass me on skinny tires. He was going twice as fast and throwing almost no water.

Dispite this, the Opti spark came through like a champ. She missed a bit more than normal at low RPM, but other than that ran great. It has 104,000 and I figure it's near the end of it'slife anyway. I'll replace it next winter when I do the head/cam swap.

On a side note, I was most impressed with the Bridgestone RE730 tires. They had awsome traction for how wet it was. I hadto get on it quite a bit to break them loose. Kinda wierd because they seem to spin too easy when it's dry out.

Potenzas are great rain tires. I prefer the 750s, but the 730s are good in the wet too

I Like the RE730s too, have managed a few 2.0 60s on them.
The opti is nowhere near as fragile or as weak when wetted as most would have you believe.

Not true, seems to be the luck of the draw. I was driving down the expressway last year during a huge downpour. Most people were pulling over to wait, I just kept going staying at about 45 and it ran perfect, I couldn't believe it. Then another time, I just happened to get caught in another rain storm with it for about 10 minutes and it ran like crap until the next day when it dried out. I really hate the opti. Sucks to ALWAYS be worrying about it.
