Opti Spark Question
Opti Spark Question
I have a 94 camaro z28. Does the 94 camaro z28 have 2 different opti spark cuz i bought one from autozone and for some reason the new plug will not work but the old one will? Its just a OEM
93/94 LT1's use an "unvented" Opti that is driven by a splined shaft, off the cam sprocket. It has one harness connector configuration. 95-97 us a "vented" Opti thatis driven by the dowel pin in the nose of the cam. It has a different harness connector configuration.
Appears they gave you a "vented" (95-97) Opti, rather than the "unvented" (93/94) one.
The other possibility is that someone has converted your 94 to a vented Opti - requires substantial mdifications, including timing cover, harness connector, adding vacuum harness, new cam sprocket, cam replacement). Have you pulled the old Opti off yet?
When you pull the Opti, this is the difference between the "unvented" and "vented" Opti:
