Opti spark issues

My car is setting codes 16 36 and 42 on the snap on scanner. Its a 94 z28. These codes are high and low resoulation pulses and an est code. It cuts off while running down the road, it losses all its fire, so i blamed it on the opti and tore it all down, What is my best bet to go back with? An Accel or Msd or GM vented or nonvented? what do you guys think is the best?

vented is better than non vented, but there is a lot more to do than just buying a vented opti. msd is the best, but most expensive, and there is a thread on here comparing the accel to the oem replacement from gm. i know when mine goes out, ill be getting that coil pack conversion. hope this helps.

since your car is a 94, youll have to get nonvented. Which limits your choices to Gm, msd, or conversion kit. I would just go w/ replacement from gm. From what ive been hearing, the msd unit isnt as reliable as everyone had hoped. unless you dont have a budget, then do 1 of the coil setups

no, thats not the original motor thats in there, theres a 96 model motor with a vented opti, a nonvented opti came off my old motor but a motor with a vented one was put back. Ran fine for 3 or 4 months but now i have trouble

go with the GM part, there is no flaw or gamble to worry about, it is correctly made

I just ran into the same issue. Seems the aftermarket companies don't have it just yet so I went with a stock replacement.
