Opti spark Harness different for 93-97 car?? Need options

I was sent the wrong opti spark harness that plugs to the top of the optispark...
The plug runs from the top of the optispark and connects to another plug on the passenger side of the intake manifold.
It will not connect to the plug that is on the passenger side of the intake manifold
The color of wires look the same and it has 4 pins like the old one.
There are plastic guides in there that guide the metal pins into place. These plastic guys are not the same. So when i go to push the plugs together they catch on the plastic guides inside the plug.

I need the car running by tomorrow night.

Im either going to cut the guides off so the pins fit or if i can get a ride go to a local dealer and pick up a opti harness and makes the original dealer (sent me the wrong one) pay for the marked up price of the local dealers...

Im looking at my options.. are these opti harnesses the same? Different part numbers?

There are two different harnesses. One for the vented and one for the non-vented. What you need to be absolutley sure of, is that it connects properly on the opti end. The length of the connector is different between the two. If that part is ok, then modify the plug to fit by the intake.

Usually what people run into, is that when they swap from a non-vented to a vented, they have to modify the connector on the intake end. Sounds like you just replaced an existing harness for a vented opti? Compare the connector length on the opti end as you might have gotten a non-vented harness.

Actually, that should be the right part number (for a 95-97). Compare the long plugs (if you have the old one), maybe it was mis-packaged.

hmmm great... im going to have to get on the phone with him and ask him which ones packaged as what..

The new optispark electrical harness has two plastic guides that stick up alittle bit on the bottom.

The old harness has 1 plastic guide in the same place as the new one but the 2nd plastic guide is in the center inbetween 2 metal pins...

hate to burst your bubble, but there is a harness that they put on the car, that you cant buy from GM. I know this from experience. mine went out, and i had a friend at the chevy dealership order both of the different part numbers, and mine had the top of one and the bottom of the other. I had to buy the new one (with the lower section right) disassemble the upper section, ie take the wires out of the harness, and reuse my upper section. so good luck to you, i know my experience with it was a bitch.

i know what your saying 96SS232 but i think the pins are all the same as far as i can tell.
I just called up the dealership and before i asked about cutting the platic guide tabs he suggested i cut the guide tabs cuz other customer had to do it for it to work..

If for some reason i couldnt cut the tabs I'd do what u said. Use the bottom portion and cut off the top portion and use the old top connector.
