Yeh I really wish that I could go with this set-up, but right now it's just out of my price range.
Does anybody know what Jason or Dals web-site is?

BTW: I din't mean anything by my post I was just tryin' to say that it could have been an honest mistake and I'm sure by the way it looked in everybody elses posts he will make good on the deal...

Re: Opti-Spark buying options??

another thing you could look into is the msd cap and rotor that you can get in about a week at summit for 150 bucks i think i might go that route since i already have msd box and coil and dont want them to go to waste
but do you need the entire assembly or just a new cap and rotor?

EDIT:
NM jeff your opti looks like trash buy a new one LOL but keep the msd in mind as an upgrade

Re: Opti-Spark buying options??

if you dont mind the risk, i beleive pep boys and autozone now carry the optispark with a lifetime warrenty. i havent heard anything bad about them but if it does go out you get a new one, the work is the only real problem
i beleive it is priced ALOT less than the dealercost too

btw dont worry about the post man, we all got our opinions and we all got something to say, thats what makes cz28 a great place. you get the good with the bad and from that can make up your mind.

Re: Opti-Spark buying options??

I bought an opti for my caprice from autozone 1yr ago. It came w/ everything, rotor, cap, and distributor for $130. I went two weeks ago for an opti for my formula. $130, except this time it did NOT include the cap & rotor. Those are now separate for an additional ~$130. Thats $260 total. All other parts stores were the same deal. Instead I bought a new opti from Jason for $230, which is less and its brand new AC Delco. Also I ran a bead of silicon along the outside of the new one to hopefully improve the seal from water/oil/etc. If you must do an opti, seriously think about doing a new water pump too (depending on the miles). It would not be much fun to spend the cash on an opti to then have the wp leak on it 6months later and destroying it. Opti, wp, and shipping was something like $385 from jason cromer.

Re: Opti-Spark buying options??

Well the rotor won't actually have to do anything, so as long as the sensor wheel is correctly working, and not throwing any codes, why not save yourself $250

Re: Opti-Spark buying options??

I would say go for the delteq aswell, the optical sensor is not the part that goes out on an opti. its usualy the points that do.
im not saying your never gonna need to get a new opti but i would just go with the delteq in hopes they come out with the stage 2 (which from what ive been told an add on to the stage 1) and just purchase that when the opti goes out. (if the stage 2 is out in that time)

I'd say the optical sensor goes out i about 20% of the failures. Where do you think the DTC codes for the high and low resolution pulse loss comes from? My optical sensor died at 50K miles. They get blinded by rust particles from the cheap carbon steel bearing retainer plate. The bearing itself is also an issue, since any wear creates wobble and wobble could affect the optical sensor.

Where are the "points" that go out in an Opti? Do you mean the rotor and plug wire terminals?
