Opti Spark Again
Opti Spark Again
will i got 3k miles out of it this time, put it in Jun, MSD style unit, rotor came lose again and took out every thing, this the rotor was put in with red loctite and high temp silicone on top of the screws to keep them from backing out and they still did, I have got to change to something different or sell the car, can't keep this up. I'm getting to the point that I want a tow truck to follow me around. Does any know if Delteg is still making their unit with the coils, I found a web-page but have to yet to get to talk with anyone, I'll wait till Monday to try again, just wanted to know if any one purchased one of their units lately.
which aftermarket cam? there has to be a reason for this. they dont go out that easy.. something is causing them to go out.. and delteq i believe is out of business but they also use the opti still. the optical sensor
Delteq is supposedly out of business, but someone on another board said they reached them a month ago (can't vouch for that as no one else has been able to
).
Sounds unusual that you had that problem with the precautions you took. Are you sure your cam dowel pin is not too long?

Great point shoebox avout the dowel pin. I would make sure that is correct first. i don't understand why you are having so much trouble with the rotor.
I have been trying to get a hold of JC at delteq for a few months, now. I haven't had any luck with that at all. I have a delteq system on my car for a few years now. I have had any trouble with it. you should look fro the ls1 coil conversion kit. alot of guys have had good luck with that kit.

You indicate the screw came out, "and took everything out". Are you sure the rotor didn't just explode because it was being pushed into the cap?
dowel pin, good question, the unit fits good, nice and flat against the housing, but how much clearance should there be for the pin, I also wonder if the cam plate my be worn letting the cam move fwd and back, any way of checking this other than pulling the cover. I had a problem of cam bolts coming loose early last year, I talked to the engine shop and they to put in longer bolts with red loctite, that took care of that problem no more lose bolts, but I do need to check the dowel, how much clearance do I need.
