Opti... Spark...

Hey guys, I've spent some time, with no luck of course, searching for any info on the optispark to coil pack conversion... Please help! Is there a kit made? or do you just piece everything together? Thanks!

119k miles... unknown if the opti ever been replaced... car is back-firing... can't track the source down... last option is the opti... and I'd like to solve that problem ONCE...

Make sure you understand how to properly troubleshoot the opti-spark. Have a look at the sticky at the top of this forum(there is a video troubleshooting link near the bottom of that thread).

I say this because you have 1 post.....and welcome to the board!

I've been eyeballing the 24x as well, but it's not going to be cheap by any means.

The 24x that shoebox mentioned is one and I believe fully eliminates the opti and you can then tune with ls software. The other is the bailey ltcc and can be had through bailey engineering (I think) and or full throttle speed. It uses the optical sensor in the opti so that part still needs to be operational. Its cheaper than the 24x and they each have their pros and cons I am sure. I got the ltcc mostly for the timing retard so I can have an easy trigger thats adjustable for the shot of n2o I want to run. I also liked the idea of taking out the high voltage side of the opti and having coil per cyllander as I didnt want to buy a new opti. What I did is kept the rotor in the opti so without much trouble I have dual ignition if my ltcc went out I could go back to stock with a few hours of work and parts I already had. Or if I had startup or tuning issues with the conversion could dial in with the stock ignition then convert to the coil per cyllander.
