Avoid spilling coolant allover it. The vented aren't as prissy about coolant as the non-vented (I've spilled coolant down there several times...) but it can still cause problems.

And they go out when they go out, but most people seem to have problems in the 60-100k mile range. Mine went out at approx. 81k.

Expect to have coolant everywhere. Draining the radiator is the easy part. When you take the hoses off the pump, more will dump allover you. When you start unbolting the waterpump, yet more will dump on you. Since you'll have everything out of the way already, I would suggest some new coolant hoses. And some new wires and plugs. It will be a lot easier with everything out of the way.

Its really not too bad to replace but if it was me doing the repair I would also replace the Opti oil seal in the timing cover and the water pump drive oil seal in the timing cover, Felpro sells a timing cover gasket set for like $10.00. The Opti seal basically just pops out of cover and lightly tap new one in with hammer, the water pump drive seal a little more tricky but not hard. Do a search on water pump drive seal install to find out how, Iam not good at typing out how to do things, the water pump seal must be installed properly or you will have big oil leak.
