Opti question

I am looking into getting a new opti spark and was wondering what else i should buy while doing this. If so if i buy an opti from summit will it come with everything i need for installation? car has over 100,000 miles so i'm guessing i should go ahead and change out the water pump also?

With that mileage and considering it has to come off, the waterpump is a good idea. It wouldn't hurt to do fresh plugs and wires also.

What kind of water pump should i go with? Is there any advantage with going with an electric one as opposed to mechanical?

I noticed a good SOTP difference with the electric waterpump. I would reccomend it especially since you will already have it off.

Its up to you, the electric waterpump has shown some decent gains on the dyno. Unfortunately, if they fail, they can do so quickly and without warning, where as a mechanical pump is a little more forgiving. There are audible alarm kits on the market that you can install as well which will alert you if a fault is detected. If you stick with a mechanical pump, I would just stick with another GM unit.

This would be a great time to replace the opti oil seal and water pump drive seal in the timing cover.
