opti..plz read

Ok I've been having the hesitation at 1000-2000 rpms and id half to say in higher rpms also, and idle problems "When Car is Warmed UP Only", so I warmed it up and brought it to our local mechanic to put on the computer, he hooked it up and there was like 2-3 Bad Opti Codes, or something going wrong with Opti everytime it surged at Idle, and hesitated in the RPMS, so what would u say my chances are that a new opti would fix my cars hesitation, cause its gonna be 600$ for this new opti and I just wanted to know my chances from you guys...

Thanks...

I'm hoping that it is the Opti cause I want it fixed.

Most likely a new opti will solve your problem.Especially if that one is original.

If you are willing to pay 600.0 for a new opti, I'd check out the dynaspark(i think its called). Just heard about it over the weekend here on the board. Next opti I buy will probaly be one.
However you can get the opti much cheaper than that over the net. My last one I got for around 200.00 from a guy named Dal or Del at I think was Vandervere Chevy or Pontiac, stock AC/delco.
I'm sure someone else could be more clear and detailed about that. For awhile his name was mentioned on a daily basis for opti's. Whatever you do dont get one from Orielly or AUtozone ect ect. I tried that the last time and had to return three of them after installing them each, none worked. Thats when I got the stock AC/delco.

Check that out, thats the best solution I've heard in the nine years I've had my car. Just dont know if its as good as it sounds.

Aside from all of that, before I changed the opti, I would check my plugs/wires/coil, and O2 sensors. I would also make sure the throttle body was clean as well as your air filter/ fuel filter, and make sure the MAF is clean and the itake elbow doesnt have any cracks and tears in it.

A $10 spark tester will isolate an opti problem (or coil/wires for that matter). The procedure is in the Hayne's manual (about $12 - $15 or something like that).
