Opti install??

Just wondering what all else to check for while the fronts torn off the engine, while doing the Opti install. Should I remove the timing chain cover and inspect it? I definately need to clean the front of the engine, due to some nasty oil and dirt build-up. Also should I put some silicone around the opti to prevent water fron leaking on it?

Re: Opti install??

I did my timing cover without dropping the oil pan. No rips.

Re: Opti install??

I just ordered my opti from Dal. You could replace the 2 seals on the timing cover. Some people say do it, some say don't. I am going to replace mine. I also ordered new vacum hose for the opti to intake. If you are going to inspect/replace the timing chain/gears, then you might have to drop the oil pan down, and be extremel careful not to rip you oil pan gasket. As far as cleaning goes, just plug up the holes and spray with brake cleaner.

Compstal, I was unaware you could get the timing cover off without dropping the pan. Cool
