opti harness wire is green

Any idea what causes this? It is a 1995 Opti and harness. It has only been installed for three months. I am tired of replacing these Opti's. Hopefully my replacement will arrive on Tuesday. I really want to know what to do to eliminate this situation. The car is not driven in rain. Basically it goes to the track and back about 20 timese per year and once in awhile around town.

It seems to me, a new harness turning green and the Opti puke in three months isn't normal since these cars supposedly ran from the factory in year round conditions for more than three months at a time without a problem.

Any corrosion will just continue to grow if not eradicated. Clean all lugs as best you can.

Re: opti harness wire is green

This is not the first time I've heard of this problem with the Opti connector/wiring. I remember a post from someone a few months ago who was going through Opti's because the connector just kept turning green.

I suggested that it might be caused by sulfuric acid leakage, or even fumes, from the battery. The sulfuric acid hits the copper and forms copper sulfate, which is blue-green. Alternatively, I wonder if this could be a sign of corrosion from the ozone generated by the high voltage discharge leaking out the weakest seal on the Opti, which appears to be the plug seal.

Just a random thought.....
