open/closed loop question
open/closed loop question
when you unhook the maf and the car goes into closed loop, does it ignore all the sensors or just the one unhooked. i'm just wondering because i have the typical lt1 stumble, and i have unhooked the maf, map, and 02 sensors and it still stumbles when they are unhooked. i was just wondering because if it ignores all the sensors when in closed loop that will narrow down my problem somewhat.
thanks.
thanks.
unhooking the MAF will throw your car into speed density like 93 camaros use. this is where the computer calculates air flow by information from the MAP, IAC and another i dont recall. this is OK for the most part.
unhooking the MAP sensor is not a good idea and wil cause your car to run very poor!
unhooking the O2 sensors will only put your car in open look till they are plugged back in. not a big deal really.
if you still have the stumble then its probably ignition related. is it a real misfire where the car voilently jerks or just a sluggish throttle reponse?

You have it backwards. Open loop is when the sensors are ignored. When your car is at operating temp, you are normally in closed loop.
Unplugging sensors is not a definitive way to troubleshoot. A scan tool and some knowledge of how sensors work would help the most.

yah, you're right i do have it backwards, my bad. when the maf is unhooked and the car is in speed density, does it still take in information from the other sensors in the car, or does it go by preprogrammed settings all around.
