Oops, are there alignment shoulders on the rear oil pan studs?
Just got done with my cam install and I have an oil leak near the back of the oil pan I'm not 100% sure but I think there are positioning shoulders on the rear studs, and I pinched the oil pan flange between these shoulders and the nuts. This of course left a gap between the gasket and rear seal.
Can anyone confirm the shoulder theory for me? I was able to get under the car after work tonight but won't know for sure if this is the problem or not until tomorrow.
Also, the pan gasket has 10 miles/ 1 trip on it.
Could I clean it up effectively and reuse or should I spend the 25 clams for a new one? (assuming anyone has it in stock...)

make sure the collars arent from the old oil pan gasket, the aftermarket pan gaskets have collars on them so you dont overtighen the pan gasket, mabe they stayed up there when you removed old gasket, and then the new gasket had them also, giving you too much gap. To the best of my knowledge ( which isnt very much mind you) there are no collars on the studs.
thanks for the responses
I was hoping I could reuse the gasket, by the way, z28scotty, that's a good point you bring up, I had a felpro gasket on their from an earlier leak fix, the spacers could very well be from that gasket.
I'll find out tonght
Thanks!
