Best sounding cat-back for money?

Hey guys,
I just purchased my first f-body a 94 z-28 with 124,xxx miles that was lady driven 20miles each way to work on the highway. the cars all stock. my dad has a 98 ta ws6 and a 02 ws6. the 98 has flowmaster, but i want hooker cat-back? any other suggestions that are in the price range of hookers? and that sound good, also anyone who has hooker cat-back do you like it?
thx rob

The Hooker is a great cat back for the money. If you have heard it and like it go with it. If you want something loud go with the SLP loud mouth. Don't forget you can gut the cat and get a little more power and gas milage and deeper sound all at the same time if your not to worried about emmisions.

I vote for the Hooker. It's not stainless, but the great sound is worth it. Plus, it's around $280 and flows great.

Since you have nothing to worry about where you live you can just cut it off and put a pipe in it's place. If you want it to look like it's still there you can gut it. It has a honey comb hard material in it but it can be busted through pretty easy. Just make sure you get it all out if you keep it in place.

I woudlnt reccomend gutting the stock cat. Youre ruining a perfectly good converter which can be expensive to repalce for a few horsepower if any. The only thing youll notice is a louder exhaust note. Just go to an exhaust shop and have a 3 inch off road pipe welded in its place. IT should be a very cheap job to have performed.

Something I forgot to mention is that you will have a rich gas smell when you gut or put a pipe in place of the cat but it's not to bad at all. On a side note, I noticed a seat of the pants increase in power when I guted my cat. SteveO, have you gotten rid of yours, if so you really didnt feel a little diff. at all ?

Id go magnaflow or hooker. I have hooker right now and it sounds real nice. Its not TOO loud but once you hit 3k rpm, it gets real loud and throaty.

A little side note: My car with MAC mids, no cats, and hooker is louder than my buddie's Stock LS1 with a cutout. It is louder from idle to redline.

Yeah, its my grandmas neighbor's. The ladies husband died and she just keeps his car back in the woods. My dad offered to buy it 20 years ago but the lady declined. Now it just sits. I bet I coudl tow the car out of the woods and the lady woudlnt even notice. I may try to rescue it oneday... when i get a well paying job.

I would say Magnaflow is a better choice over hooker, its just as cheap and its all stainless plus the 18in long 3.5in wide chrome tips look great to some, its a love or hate thing.
