oops, now what?

Somehow I managed to screw up putting my alternator back on.
Any suggestions?

I drove it like this for a bit today and the alternator still seems pretty sturdy. Should I replace the whole bracket?

Re: oops, now what?

That or probably easier to get a piece welded to it and re-tap it for the bolt.

Re: oops, now what?

Either replace or weld on some new metal only temporary Jerry rig fix I see is to remove the rest of the broken area and put a nut on the bolt ..relying on the to black support brackets for some strength .

Re: oops, now what?

Get slightly longer bolt and nut with washer. Tighten that as a sandwich. Looks like there is enough meat left to grab tight. A temp fix that should work good and cheap.

EDIT: use the broken piece in place to keep it even.

good call, I might try that. Although every time I go to home depot for bolts or screws for my car they never seem to have the right kind of thread

No prob just get a slightly narrower bolt if you can't match one perfectly.
