Unhappy Only Got 14.1 in 1/4 mile...dissapointed

Went to the track yesterday.
With all of my mods I figured I would at least get into the 12's.
My '60 foot times I think were the one thing holding me back.
2.4-2.3 sec 60 foots didn't seem that great. Only trapping @ 100mph....????? Funky.

What would help me go faster??

Anyone have any suggestions?

Wow that's really off! When was the last time you did a tune up, and what did you use?

you should probably have 60' down 2.0-2.1 range on street tires and that might get you a 13.7 but still, something isn't right there cause you should be running at least very low 13's. did you have it tuned after all those mods were done?
as we speak, i'm in the process of installing a new cam, valve springs, pushrods and 1.6RR's and headers on my car. I'm paranoid about something like this happening with me. running a high 13 after i spent $2000 on my engine!
also, maybe you raced at a high altitude?

I wouldn't be worrying about his tires or ET for that matter, look at his trap speed. With boltons I trapped 101. He should be trapping at least 110-112

Yes that doesnt make any sense. I was trapping damn near 104 with TB bypass, Borla, BFG DRs, and pullies. My tranny mount went south on me and I was running consistent 13.80s@100-101mph after I put my LTs on. Check the tune first and then check all the connections and mounts and such.

By lt4 conversion is that lt4 heads too or just the cam??

If you have lt4 heads and intake and all that you should be in the low 12s I would say.Your 60s suck but so does your mph.

My cars run the times they showed on street tires at 2000ft above sea level. The vert runs that time bone stock and is heavy as hell.

The ls1 has big problems with wheelspin on street tires.

You have something very wrong there guy..!!

Hopefully you will figure it out..

The times or the 60ft dont matter. The mph is way too low and unless the DA was like 10,000ft something is wrong.

yeah, something is WAY off. 60's arent going to get that thing were it should be. i would look into a custom tune. mabey a tune-up if one hasnt been done in a while to start with.

Exclamation

I am still scratching my head on this one too!
I just had my valves adjusted.
I am not sure if that has anything to do with it.
I like the way the car sounds etc... but i am thinking something is wrong with the engine.
My tires were BALD... they are/were Dunlop sp8000's

I had a running rich problem with it.... Changed the MAF from the Granitelli to the stock one... had it re-tuned by PCM4LESS.. it runs slightly less rich.

At this point i cant tell much difference from stock to this whole engine overhaul.

Yes.. the heads are LT4 with the hotcam... I am using the springs that came with the heads.. are those the right ones.???
maybe its the springs...
I know the RR's are 1.6.. I looked at them with my own eyes when they did my valves.

The guy used the " spin the rod and wait until it gets tight" method..
It went from "clackata clackata" to.. completely silent.... is that good/bad?? i dont know...

Should I get a custom dynotune? Yell at Bryan at PCM4LESS??

What is going on?? HELP!!

Well a custom dyno tune can't hurt..You are lucky I have no dynos close to me to use.Tires affect your et of course.with a 2.0 you would be in the thirteens but would think you should be high twelves low 12s for sure with that setup. High twelves on street tires so somewhere you are missing like 100hp.!!..I can' t see the tuning being off that far.Maybe a compression check or leakdown is in order.Unless your not firing on all eight cylinders...do you have access to any kind of scanner like autotap or something..??

A stock lt1 runs low 14s at that mph. Unless you are high altitude..that could make some difference too.

Seems like it is firing on all 8.
Not extreme elevation either.
Anyone have any suggestions on whether i need different valve-springs.. or custom tune...?? besides PCM4LESS.... i am starting to doubt my tuning and the car all together.

--sigh..

Im thinking about taking it down to Powertrain Dynamics...
150- for the first hour on the dyno.. 125 after...
Full dyno tune.
They Seem like they know their stuff.
Anyone used them.. know if that is a reasonable price???
