one last offroad pipe question anyone with shorties might be able to answer

Hopefully anyone with shorties can answer this question, but particularly pacesetters. I'm gonna get an offroad pipe custom made, and I know that the y-pipe for the headers would normally weld to the factory cat (that I'm replacing with an OR pipe). Question is, is the y-pipe the exact same length as the factory y-pipe? in other words if you cut the cat off right at the weld between the cat and the factory y-pipe, would the new y-pipe come right to the end of the cat? Or is the aftermarket y-pipe slightly longer or shorter? I need to know so I'll know the measurements I need for my offroad pipe. thanks.

Just drive your car open headers to the shop and have them make it with the car in thier posession.

Having a pipe made absent of the car just doesn't sound like too good of an idea to me - too much could go wrong.
