open headers is insane, where I used to work ( at a mustang shop), the boss had a cpl stangs done up for drag racing, open headers on those sounded insane! (small block fords).....

I have yet to hear an SBC on open headers....my buddy has to do the collector gaskets on his 350 V8 powered S10 Blazer in the spring....guess i'll go deaf then!!

Click the 2 links I provided. They're both the same LT1 motor which is a SBC. Unless you wanted a stock LT1 motor, you'll hafta wait until late March/early April when I install my Longtubes.

Actually I had just turned into the highway and was about to open the car up...I live in a semi rural area and there's plenty of roads to strech out on... On this road I usally take my car to 110 to wake her up then shut it down... This was one of those 110 nights...I guess I was kinda lucky he caught me before I actually got up there with it...but I gues syou could say Wide open I was at the end of 2nd. I've just come to realize when it comes to exahust and cars...it depends on the cop that pulls you over...some don't give a damn..others are *******s...but this time my pipes told on me...

ya i know what you mean about the cops, some not caring and others giving you hell. Before the headers I had a cop mention to me that my exhaust was too loud while I was parked at a convenience store. He heard me pull in. All I had was a cutout. Ive already passed 4 cops today driving around without getting pulled over, so I'm taking that as a good sign. I'm just afraid of taking it out after dark because I can see cops gettin really pissed if a loud car is running around late at night.

Lol' s yeah....the night driving nightmare...I remember I'd used to push the clutch in and pop the car in neutral and glide the cops whenever I came near one.... It was even worse at a stop light...no way to avoid the NAscar sound...so I think I took of really slow in 2nd...to catch up quietly. But Damn when you hot an empty highway is that sound ever amazing....Nothing like it...No more imports for me...no siree...not unless it's a 911-T

i doubt any ricers will be trying to race me anymore. before i put them on i got all the civics around here pullin up on me because i took the Z badges off my car. Today i was coming home from pickin up a few bolts to block off the AIR fittings and a red civic with a fart can and altezzas pulled up next to me on the highway. I pinged it off the rev limiter and his head turned and he had a "holy ****" look on his face. it was the greatest thing ever.

just a few tips for you so your install doesnt take as long as mine:

1)Remove the power steering pump before you try to do anything, it makes life much easier later when taking off and putting on the #2 bolts.

2)Spray a lot of lubricant(PB Blaster) on all the bolt and let them soak for a long time.

3) Put the EGR tube in the header before tightening all the bolts.

4)Go easy when tightening the bolts the first few turns, or you will end up cross threading a few as I did. And have a tap on hand just in case.

5) Get beer, lots of beer.
