Unhappy Omg No Oil Pressure!!

So I was driving today thinking "My exhaust leak got much worse." It went from a "tick" to a "knock." Looked at the oil pressure and it was low!
When I pulled it on the driveway it dropped all the way to 0!!

My questions are:
Whats the knock comming from and is it going to need replacement?
How much does a rebuild kit cost? Where to get one?
Any advice/tips/suggestions are welcome!!!

Also, the car would only knock at certain RPMs/Pressure, so it wasnt like a constant knock like a bad rod.

Help!

Spun bearing. You have my condolences.

If you had oil pressure for a while and it was making noise, its a bearing. If it was 0 right away when it made noise, its the pickup tube (fell off).

Thank you Gripenfelter, I look forward to the videos you post on performance-shop! How much am I looking at on parts? I'm definitely going to do the labor myself.

Re: Omg No Oil Pressure!!

Depends on how long you've been driving the car and which bearing is spun.

If you're lucky, you will just need: bearings, rings, gaskets, and a new oil pump (might be damaged from metal).

If the bearing has been spun for a while you will need: new crank, new rod if its a rod bearing, plus the above.

If you were in Canada I could get you a deal on all the parts.

See you on P-shop.

I'd just pick up a stock LT1 shortblock with under 50,000 miles for a few hundred dollars.

A "beginning" rod knock will not knock under load or idle.Ya have to get it in the "float" position with the gas-- no pull, no let off, then ya can get it to do it all the time. The only time a rod can be heard at idle is if it's fixing to window the block in a few revs.
A main brg will knock under a heavy load at lower RPM's and at free upper RPM's

Buy a crate short block from the general(GM).His 383 comes with a warranty and ya can probably do the rest yourself.Just knock the wood off and go to work.Get a decent cam and your heads done by Loyd stage 3 and maybe his cam and go have fun.
