OMG another cam question...sorry

Sorry for this guys, but hopefully its my last question until I get my car torn apart and cant get it back together

Are there multiple part numbers for the cc503 cam for different year cars? I was going to buy one off a guy and he said it was the XE276HR-12, and it wouldnt work in my car cuz of the opti pin size, does anyone know about this?

I have a 95, which has the vented opti, is there something I have to do to make it work when the cam was for a non vented opti?

I'm pretty sure you can by a longer dowel pin and have it pressed into the cam. Non-vented opti's need the shorter dowel. But, you might want to run a search on here, I'm sure this question has been answered by someone more qualified than me.

Re: OMG another cam question...sorry

The big difference between a LT1 cam 87 and up roller cams is the hole in the front of the cam.It has a wider and deeper opening in the front of the cam. This is done for the optispark as the vented(95-97) ones slide into the face of the cam.The 92-94 cams look like a regular SBC roller. On the LT1 cam for a vented opti, the hole is .500 wide and 1.150 deep. Were as a regluar SBC and non vented cam , it is just drilled deep enough for centering it on the grinder.I can take pic it you want as I have both styles.

New style on the left.

Most all cams come with the bigger hole like the left style. The big difference is the pin. You will need to remove it and install a longer pin (assuming your cc503 looks like the left cam, except with a short pin like on the right)

Re: OMG another cam question...sorry

So for the vended opti there is a shorter pin, and the actual size of the opening for the cam is different?
I thought the only difference between vented/non vented was the pin size.

The vented opti has a LONGER pin, and the middle opening is bigger. You can tap in the pin to fit the older style
