Old Gas- failed emissions

could old gas be a big problem with emissions? I haven't been driving my camaro much since about december. I haven't even put gas in it since. I have been going TDY and deploying to Kuwait. When I got home I had to go through emissions and I failed. The carbon monoxide (CO) was way low and within limits but the hydrocarbons (HC) where outragous. Loaded standard 220 i got 701. Idle standard 220 i got 261. Any help would be great.

I plan on changing the plugs, good gas when the tank runs out, octane booster, fuel cleaner. and maybe a good sea foam cleaning. Does this sound like it would work?

Re: Old Gas- failed emissions

I had that same problem 2 years ago. I must have forgot to pour some StaBil in the tank. It had about a half tank and ran rough after sitting for several months. I filled the tank and it ran better but I took the test the next day and failed bad. I ran through a couple tanks and used some of the emissions pass stuff just incase and I passed no problem. I think you'll be fine once you get that old gas out of the tank. Good luck.
