Okay I got the Engine out of the Car now what?
Re: Okay I got the Engine out of the Car now what?
dude I appreciate your concern about my experience here. (And I really do) But I am gaining knowledge on this board from people that have done this in the past so that I can do this myself. I believe that is what this board is all about. As far as money goes I am not going to drop 10k into the car. but I am going with the most reliable parts that you guys suggest. As far as what I have done to these cars before: 2 clutch installs, reprogramed the pcm myself, installed lt headers, pulled the ac air pump and revamped by cai in front of the rediator. So I am not new to these cars or the cost involed. I really just want the "do it yourself'ers" to give me advice like they always have so that I can learn and if it takes me til next year to get this done so be it. My z is my luxury veh.
By the way thank you for all the help you guys have given me.

it's not that bad to do yourself, you might just do it better , i've seen some experienced people go a little too fast at rebuilding, take your time , maybe get a book and a set of dial indicators and a couple micrometers to double ck clearances
Re: Okay I got the Engine out of the Car now what?
Thank you lt4orbust I was starting to think that know one has ever done this before. Anyway is it normal to have a lot of carbon built up on the pistons and heads? I think that I am going to take the crank off and pull the pistons and chk the rings here and get that block cleaned up before I go the the shop. I figure since I have the engine out of the car I might as well do everything I can do here.

well, first you should sit down, smile, pat yourself on the back, and then throw down a beer because you just completed the hardest phase of the engine rebuild process....removing it. now, have the heads checked, milled, valve job, etc, as well as the bottom end checked, honed, bored, etc. I'm sure everybody else has covered the rest...
