ok now im upset!!!

so i ordered replacement studs for my lt1 heads and they dont fit...there the arp 134-7104 replacement 3/8 studs....so i go to install them and i find out that there about 2.5 threads too long...so i call arp and they reccomend using hardened washers to fill up the space...wtf arp! apparently they dont make them any shorter than that....idk what to do now...anyone else heard of this problem?

Sounds as if you are looking for non-guideplate studs.

The ARP studs are longer to make room for guideplates.

You used the wrong rocker studs, it's that simple.

Grind a few threads off. Big deal nothing about custom performance is straight forward. Maybe the factory didn't drill the heads deeper then there supose to be. Make it fit.

I'd use washers before grinding a haredened stud...but that's me.

If you look in ARP's catalog, you'll see they list 2 3/8 studs, -7104 has a .710" thread length and -7101 has a .700". The other difference is the upper threaded portion...-7104 is intended to be used with roller rockers and the threaded portion above the head is longer.

Use ARP washer 200-8509. It's a 7/16" ID with a chamfered hole. The OD is 13/16" or you could alkways buy guide plates...

If he is using SA rockers, he sure does not want to put guideplates on it.

You quoted and questioned a post that was eventually deleted, because it was not appropriate. Your post was deleted as well. Is was not on topic.

ok so well i got the new studs today and they still are hitting the little tang on the bottom of the hole....i tightened one down all the way and i got it to touch the surface of the head with little force so im just gonna say **** it and tighten them all down.....what is the purpose of that little tang? also what do i use when i torque the studs to the heads? do i just use thread locker or what?

Yeah that's why I quoted the person that left such a bad reply. I remember I asked why he felt that way.
