True. What I was trying to emphasize that a competently fabricated front support could match the strength of the stock unit and still save weight.

I will have the car on Rhino ramps which is plenty of room underneath and on top to remove the stock stuff. This will all be done in my front lawn so it's already not an ideal situation. I plan on removing my crash bar and bumper support anyway, also cutting out the stock bumper and making it semi-functional to the radiator. I know that the air dam is supposed to work, but i figure since i wont have the extra support the wind resistance would be bad for the bumper, and cutting it out would help, possibly even with the radiator.

Anyway, i want to remove my front bumper cover and use the crash bar for jacking. I plan on wrapping a chain around the bumper and lifting it up by this. I know these are not made for it, but asside from the chain breaking, what damage would it cause? I mean yeah i am sure it would bend the bumper, but that is going to be remove anyway. Will it support the front of the vehicle weight? I have a 2 ton engine hoist which will hold it im sure. Has anyone done this? Does anyone know if the bumper will support that? Does anyone think this might be a good idea?

Thanks for looking guys,
Shawn

try by the mirrors

It'a actually mild steel tubing, not chrome moly. It's the same stuff as you can buy, nothing special there. The strength is in the design, not the material.

Well i already installed the headers without even having to unbolt the engine.; Raised it 18 inches from the K member and slid both headers in in less than 30 seconds.
