oiling problem

oil pressure shows pretty good at idle, around 40 psi. but i heard some clanking or ticking noises so i took off the valve cover to take a look. the car had been running for about 5 minutes and there was no oil coming out ot the pushrods. after about 15 minutes finally some oil started coming out of them.

does this sound like collapsed lifters or what. maybe an oil passage is clogged?

upon further inspection i found that the lifters could be pushed down about 1/4 inch. all of them. that cant be good!

Seems like your lifters are bleeding down severely is you can push into them by 1/4 inch. Did you accomplish this by lifting on the rocker? If youre lifters are collapsed, you must also have noticed a bad idle and uneven idle, and low cylinder compression. Not to mention a considerable power loss. Have you notice these?
