Oiling problem
IT happened again. On the 1-2 shift the rear kicked sideways and uncovered the pickup and I killed it, then waited a few secs then started it back up and it was fine, The pickup is 1/4 off the bottom of the pan, stock pan, stock pump , pickup, everything, no windage trey, but I dont think that could cause this. Has anyone ever had this same problem? Is my only option a deep pan or dry sump? I think changing that pan in the car would be hard as heck, so suggestions please.
Are you saying the oil pick-up fell off the oil pump?Did you see this by pulling the pan?I'm no expert by any means, but don't 383 builds go for the deeper pans and deeper pickups?I read this somewhere I guess. Please post some more results and maybe some other members will chime in.My02
No, My assumption is that the pickup was uncovered by the oil shifting sideways. I have the stock pan, because I built the 383 myself and was very short on money by that point, and heard the aftermarket pans leak. suggestions?

i hit corners on the freeway at 80mph in my stroker and have never lost oil pressure!how do you know for sure that your loosing oil pressure?? did you see your guage loose pressure?? are you sure that your not loosing FUEL PRESSURE
I didnt put in a high volume pump. It is the stock oil pump. And I checked the oil when i got home. Right at the full mark. Im loosing OIL PRESSURE I know this because the gauge dropped to 0 for about 2 seconds and the big red check gauges light came on, IM gonna try replacing my oil /filter tomarrow I'm on the originals still and the motor has 200 miles on it. I may do the oil cooler delete too.
