oil temp sensor?
oil temp sensor?
I didn't know our cars even had an oil temp sensor.
Datamaster is reading -35 C or so.. makes me think either we really don't, so its just reading null data, or we do and mine is bad...
Can anyone confirm the existance or non-existance of an oil temp sensor on 1995 camaro z28s?
Also, if it is there, is it used when calculating any of the fuel maps, or just to throw codes? I didn't see a code thrown for it...
I also threw two codes (ses light only came on for a few seconds like twice and then that was it... it was stumbling when that happened, but its been fine since.) It almost looked like the codes were from a bad connection to some sensors or something, because of their intermittant nature... I'll get the codes and post those up next time I'm in the car.
Thanks in advance for the info about the oil temp sensor if anyone has it.

Re: oil temp sensor?
F-Bodies don't have one, but the Vettes had two. One was located right above the filter and went to the gauge for your info only. The other was at the pressure sensor location at the back of the intake--actually a "T" in their case with both a pressure and temp sensor. That one went to the PCM.
So, don't worry about not having one from a programming standpoint--it won't mess things up. You can, however, add some stuff if you have a sensor hooked up to the PCM such as kicking on the fans at a certain temp.

Re: oil temp sensor?
Since the LT1 has the port and the computer, is there any way to add an oil temp sensor, even if it would only show up on the computer display or is the wiring harness different and the wires just not there on the F body?
