Oil temp?
Oil temp?
Just a quick Q:
I've now changed the oil on my Z 3 times since I bought it, and always use the Fram filters with the no-slip grips. Every time, when I've taken the old filter off, that grippy material they put on them has been blistered and brittle. Is it normal for the filter to get hot enough to burn/blister that stuff? Or do I have a problem somewhere? Anyone else use Frams and notice this?

Re: Oil temp?
Well, that stuff is being cooked while you're driving. 200+ degree oil inside it and the exhaust is real close to the outside of it. As long as you're not finding chunks when you change the oil you should be ok.
Re: Oil temp?
I used fram when I first bought my car and it did the same, now I run Royal purple and a Wix filter so no problem. That stuff is not on there well enough to withstand 3,000 miles of LT1 abuse.
