oil pump stub shaft ?'s
I just installed a melling m55-a using the is-55e shaft. The pump came with a small plastic piece, but the shaft already had a metal piece on the end where it fit on the pump. My question is, is there a plastic piece that goes between the shaft and the drive stub shaft on the top of the motor? My shaft felt like it had some play in it up/down.

It will flop a little, but as long as you are using the shaft with the metal collar, you are good to go. There is nothing else that goes in there. When the pump drive is inserted into the block, it will stabilize the assembly.
