Re: Oil pump shaft size

The standard SBC is the size you want. Haven't seen any listed that said the size you listed though.

agreed, the only thing I can think of that lists those sizes are the pick up tube

Re: Oil pump shaft size

I guess my question is what size inlet, 3/4 or 5/8?? It is a 94 and I do not have plans to replace the shaft, I will drop the pan with the motor still in. Since when did they start changing stuff again??

Re: Oil pump shaft size

Also standard SBC with 3/4 inlet port.

Here's a pump

Here's the style pickup

Remember the pickup must be matched to the pan depth. So you have to find the correct depth for the pan you have. But use the type with the extra support. Would be a good idea to tack it in place also and be sure to remove the spring and check ball parts when you tack it.

You will need to replace the oil pump drive shaft since the one from the factory has a plastic collar and should be replaced with a stronger metal one.

Re: Oil pump shaft size

No replacing is needed, come to find out is was the oil I used, mobil 5000 mile oil, GARBAGE!! I lost significant pressure and when I went WOT pressure dropped to almost zero. I changed my filter to a Napa and went back to conventional dino 5W-30 and my pressure is back where it belongs. Thanks for the updates on the pump size though, I am buying the tube and pump and installing it at a later date...
