Oil pump pick up tube?

Oil pump pick up tube?
Do you guys tack the pick up tube to the oil pump or just press it in and it usually never works its way out?

That's what I was thinking, but is there anything in the oil pump that can be damaged by the heat built up by welding? Also thanks for the quick reply.

I don't think they weld all the way around it, just a quick tack or two to keep it there.. Not really welding long enough to heat things up significantly.
