Oil pump needle fluctuates
Oil pump needle fluctuates
The needle on my oil pressure gauge in my car fluctuates abnormally. Sitting at a light with the car warm, I've noticed it will bounce up slightly, settle back down, maybe bounce up a little more or less, drop down again, etc.
When cold, it runs at max pressure as it should. I have only noticed this fluctuation whenever the engine is warm.
Anyone have any ideas? Is this a hint of a bad electrical (something) about to break?
Thanks,
-John

maybe i don't understand what your saying but when your car is warm the oil pressure will drop. this is because the oil thins out as it gets warm. at idle it will be the lowest. when your driving your oil pressure will go back up. if it is bouncing around, i would try replacing the oil pressure sending unit.
