oil priming problems!

So today i attempted to prime the new motor before slamming it in the car and have run into a major issue? Im getting no oil to the lifters. I spun on the drill for a couple minutes hoping to see oil flowing out of all the pushrods but have only got a small trickle out of one pushrod. I pulled the lifters out of their bores and spun the pump again expecting to see oil passing out of the hole in the lifter bore but nothing at all. Im getting around 30 psi at 800 drill rpm. Oil filter is full so I know the check ball under the rear cap is there, and I have no visible leaks. Im taking my pressure reading in the stock oil pressure senders location with a manual guage. Help me

i had the same issue, so we just finished putting it all back together shut off the fuel, and turned it over for 10 secs and watched the guage. It was all good..

The pumping action of the lifters when the engine is running is what gets the oil out the pushrods. You are not going to see much with a prime tool.

Ok but with the lifters out of their bores and running the oil pump shouldnt I see some oil coming out of the small holes in the bores? And is there an oil galley plug that would cause this?

Not too beat a dead horse but the prime tool im using is really narrow, as in when I spin it up a bunch of oil comes up out the oil where the prime tool goes and spills out into the lifter galley, im thinking this is my problem. Anyone confirm this?

yes it should have a round adapter that looks like the oil pump driver that sits flush in the hole to carry the oil around to the lifters.

i had trouble getting it to seat all the way too so i quit when i got to 45 psi

I primed my engine for a good hour once before I got oil out of ALL the pushrods!

Turning it 90° every so often.
